Praise for BAD DOLLS

“Harrison’s feminist horror novels are some of the most original and entertaining out there, and this story collection is right up there with her longer works.” – The New York Times

“This slim volume of four creepy, beautifully realized short stories illustrates that Harrison is one of our most versatile and compelling modern horror writers, capable of engrossing you for hours or keeping you up all night with what she does in just a few pages.” – Paste Magazine

THE VEIL

Sally has recently left an unfulfilling job to volunteer at a living history museum, where she is assigned to the Death House. Every day, she dons Victorian mourning garb and describes traditional funeral services to tourists. It sounds depressing as hell, but for Sally, it’s less depressing than her tepid marriage to her childhood sweetheart.

This becomes all too clear when she accidentally travels through time and space to a liminal world where the ghosts of the living history museum haunt its grounds. There, she meets and falls hard for Victorian-era pretty boy Nathaniel. Their heady, romantic encounters douse Sally in the sad reality that her marriage is anything but and leave her tempted to join Nathaniel permanently in his realm.

Is Sally’s marriage literally a fate worse than death, or is there another way altogether? Audible Original via Audible

GOOD BONES

“The scream died in my mouth. What came out was more of a dull yelp. I scrambled toward the door to make sure it was locked, spun around and ran upstairs. It was easy to find my way back; panic is a good guide. I locked the bedroom door and curled up next to Doyle. I considered waking him up, but what would I say? There’s a skeleton in the yard?” via Guernica
